Senior Veteran’s Advocate
Tamela has been with Stockton & Stern, LLC since its inception. She has worn many hats for the firm over the years, working as a paralegal earlier in her career. Tamela now keeps the office humming at peak efficiency and advocates for senior veterans. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
Tamela is passionate about working closely with veterans and their families to help them secure the financial assistance necessary to address their healthcare needs. As a member of the Gardner American Legion Riders, the Gardner American Legion Auxiliary and the Patriot Guard, she proudly participates in flag lines for fallen soldiers and police officers, coordinated the 2017 American Legion blood drive and is spearheading the mapping of all soldiers’ graves in four local cemeteries. Tamela also sits on the Board of Directors for Great Plains Senior Veterans, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting our senior veterans.
Tamela’s activism goes well beyond advocating for veterans. She is a member of a charitable organization called Johnson County Young Matrons (JCYM). Through JCYM, she has provided assistance to various philanthropies in the Johnson County area, such as Evergreen Living Innovations (a Medicaid senior living community), the Shawnee Mission Indian Center, Johnson County Christmas Bureau, and Kids TLC, Inc. She is presently the co-chair for a Life Story project with seniors residing in Evergreen Living Innovations. The project consists of interviewing various seniors and recording their life stories as a legacy for their families.
Tamela has been married to Glenn Stockton for almost 30 years. Together they have three children and two granddaughters. The couple has hosted numerous exchange students from around the world that Tamela and Glenn now consider part of their extended family. Tamela enjoys international travel, immersing herself in the local cultures and making new friends. Tamela and Glenn also enjoy researching their family genealogy. They collect photographs of past generations, learn the history of their ancestors and pass the information on to today’s generation.
