Sophia A. Kandt

Sophia’s primary focus at Stockton & Kandt, LLC is in the areas of estate planning, elder law, VA Benefit planning and Medicaid planning. Specifically, Sophia assists in the design, preparation and implementation of estate plans for firm clients. She also oversees and is responsible for the funding process and ensuring that client assets are properly titled and beneficiary designations are appropriately established.

Sophia received her B.A. in Organizational Leadership from MidAmerica Nazarene University, her M.Sc. in Organizational Development from the University College Dublin, and earned her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2017. While at the University of Kansas she interned at Stockton & Kandt, LLC, Kansas Legal Services, Legal Services for Students, and the Johnson County District Attorney’s Prosecutor’s Office. Her portfolio at the District Attorney’s office included child in need of care, adult criminal, and juvenile criminal cases. Sophia earned two certificates from the University of Kansas School of Law: Elder Law and Trial Advocacy. She has been an attorney at Stockton & Kandt, LLC since graduating from law school and a Partner attorney since 2022.

Sophia is married to Derek Kandt, also an attorney and an Officer in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. She has two young children, Harrison and Warren and a goldendoodle, Bonnie. She enjoys spending time traveling with her husband and children around the United States and the world. So far, she has traveled to over 30 countries and is always looking for the next opportunity to experience new cultures and new places.
